The NFL seemed to be doing pretty good amongst the pandemic with very few players testing positive for Covid-19 the first couple of weeks, but recently there have been a plethora of spreading clusters. These spreads have reached many teams including the Patriots, Titans, Rams, Vikings and the NFL did not seem to have a plan moving forward to stop these spreads or even penalize the teams when the spreads were a result of carelessness or negligence. There were many people starting to question whether the season could look even remotely normal, but with the NFL implementing new policies in the last couple of days things are hopefully going to take a turn for the better.

The above photos showcase the memo which was distributed to all NFL teams. These harsh rules and regulations did not come as a surprise because of the numerous outbreaks across the league, because teams like the Titans have had twenty plus positive tests and that makes it very difficult to fill a roster when multiple of your essential players are missing. These repercussions include no gatherings outside of the practice facility, there are fines for breaking protocol, adjustment or loss of draft choices, and forfeiting of a game.

The NFL has already taken some action by postponing games and fining players like Derek Carr and Jason Witten from the Las Vegas Raiders. The plan is still up in the air with the proceedings with the NFL’s plan to minimize the spread between the players and staff.  Even with the new rules they have had the most amount of time out of any sport organization to prepare for this season, because last season ended right as the virus started to make its way to the U.S. The NFL needs to get a grip before on the Covid-19 cases or the whole season is going to be ruined.
